“Graffiti Collection”
“Graffiti art made its first appearance in 1840 originating in Afro-Cuban history on interior and exterior of private and public homes and buildings. Complaints about the art in the hands of colored people, provoked to push people of color out of positions of artistic prominence. This was one of the colonial state’s reaction to slave rebellion.
Graffiti is an art that had major influence on the world. The art has a negative connotation affiliated with gang culture and often misunderstood. Recognition began in the 1960s with the first widely known graffiti artist Darryl “Cornbread” McCray, and in the 1970s-80s becoming a major element of Hip Hop.”
